The Media panel
The Media button, beside Replay panel, Data and Audio Mixer, opens a panel down the right of the window with every Image and Media input as a tab. It appears once your Show has one. Like the other panels it takes the room beside Preview and Program, so opening it closes whichever of them was there, and its button in the panel’s title moves it into a window of its own (for a second display, say) and back.
Picking an item
Each item is a row with a picture of the file, its number, its name and, for media, how long it runs. A file with sound and no picture shows Audio; one that is missing or cannot be read says so in orange, and is skipped when it comes up. The current item is highlighted, with a red dot while the input is on air.
Click a row to make it the current item: it plays at once if the input was playing, and waits on its first frame if not, the same as the transport buttons under Preview and Program. Clicking the item that is already current does nothing, so a stray click cannot start what is on air over again; use the transport’s restart for that.
Playback settings
The Playback box under the list has the input’s playback settings (Always play, Play on Program in, Auto next, Loop playlist, Shuffle and the rest for media; Advance continuously, Advance on Program in, the image and crossfade times and the rest for images) and Scaling, which is also in the input’s Picture tab. See Image and media playlists for what each one does. They are the same settings as in the input’s own settings, and they take effect straight away, without restarting the input: a carousel on air stays on the image it is showing.
Reordering, adding and removing
For an input built from files you chose, drag a row by its handle to a new place, Add Files… to add to the end, or remove a row with its − button, which asks first. None of it restarts the input: whatever is playing keeps playing, and what comes next follows the new list. Removing only takes a file out of the list; the file stays on disk. The last item cannot be removed, and neither can the one on air.
An input that plays a folder shows the folder’s name instead. Its files are whatever the folder holds, in filename order, so add, remove or rename files in the folder to change it.
